Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women's Championships strengthens sustainability credentials with carbon footprint certification delivered by GO2 by Global Omnium
WTA 125 event in Calvià continues its commitment to responsible event management through independent carbon footprint measurement and verification.
SANTA PONÇA (MALLORCA), October 2026 – The Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women's Championships has reinforced its position as one of the leading events on the women's tennis calendar, combining sporting excellence with a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
The tournament, currently taking place in the municipality of Calvià, has received certification of its carbon footprint in accordance with the internationally recognised ISO 14064 standard, further underlining its commitment to sustainable event management.
The certification follows a comprehensive assessment process led by GO2 by Global Omnium, the tournament's Green Sponsor. For the second consecutive year, the environmental consultancy has carried out the event's Value and Impact Measurement, analysing all key operational areas of the tournament to support a responsible approach to sport and event delivery.
Sustainability forms a core part of the philosophy of tournament promoter emotion group, which has made environmental responsibility a key pillar of its operations. The work carried out at the women's event builds on the carbon footprint management programme already implemented together with GO2 by Global Omnium at the ATP tournament held in Mallorca earlier this year.
Measuring impact as the first step towards change
For GO2 by Global Omnium, meaningful sustainability begins with measurement. By calculating the tournament's carbon footprint under the ISO 14064 standard, organisers gain a clear understanding of their environmental impact, creating the foundation for future reduction and compensation strategies.
The process has been independently verified by Bureau Veritas, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services. This independent review provides international credibility and assurance that the tournament's environmental commitments are measurable, transparent and robust.
Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of emotion group, said:
"This achievement reinforces our commitment to building a tournament in which sustainability is embedded in every aspect of the event. Through GO2's measurement process and the independent verification carried out by Bureau Veritas, environmental responsibility has become a central pillar of both our ATP tournament in June and the women's event currently taking place at Mallorca Country Club and in Magaluf."
The Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women's Championships forms part of a broader strategy to promote high-level sporting events while contributing positively to the local community and supporting Calvià's ongoing development as a destination for quality sport and tourism.
