Defending Champion Solana Sierra set to lead the field at the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships
The 2025 champion returns to Mallorca to defend her title in a WTA 125 event featuring players from more than 20 countries
The countdown to the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships is underway. With less than a month to go until the start of the tournament, organiser e|motion group has confirmed the player entry list for the second edition of the WTA 125 event, which will take place from 10 to 18 October on the clay courts of the Magaluf Sports Centre.
Leading the field is Argentina’s Solana Sierra, who returns to Mallorca as defending champion after capturing the title at the inaugural tournament in 2025. Currently ranked inside the world's Top 100, Sierra leads a strong international field and will arrive as one of the tournament favourites.
Last year's triumph carried extra significance as she received the champion's trophy from Gabriela Sabatini, the tournament ambassador and one of the most iconic figures in the history of women's tennis.
"We are especially proud to welcome Gabriela Sabatini back as tournament ambassador. Her career, elegance and commitment to women's tennis perfectly reflect the values we want to promote through this event. She remains a role model for several generations of athletes and an inspiration to young players dreaming of reaching the highest level of the game," said Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of e|motion group.
The main draw once again promises a strong international line-up. Alongside Sierra, the field includes Austria's Julia Grabher, Czech rising star Laura Samson, and Germany's Noma Noha Akugue, all among the highest-ranked players entered in the tournament. Spanish hopes will rest on Marina Bassols Ribera, Andrea Lázaro García and Ane Mintegi del Olmo, who will be looking to make their mark in front of local fans. The tournament features a 32-player main draw and a 16-player qualifying competition.
For Weindorfer, the return of the defending champion adds another compelling storyline to this year's event. "Whenever a champion returns to defend a title, it creates a special narrative for the tournament. Solana Sierra made a tremendous impression last year and we are delighted to welcome her back to Mallorca. I am confident that fans will enjoy excellent tennis throughout the week."
Road to Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships
Before the international stars arrive, the tournament will showcase local talent through the Road to Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships. The new event will bring together the eight highest-ranked players from the Balearic Islands, competing on 9 and 10 October on the same courts that will later host the WTA tournament. The winner will receive a wildcard into the qualifying draw of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships, becoming the only Balearic player guaranteed a place in the international competition.
Through this initiative, e|motion group continues its commitment to supporting the development of women's tennis in the Balearic Islands and creating a direct pathway from regional competition to the professional tour.
Exclusive VIP Experience at Mallorca Country Club
Beyond the action on court, the tournament will once again offer a premium VIP programme designed for tennis enthusiasts, corporate guests and partners. The experience begins at Mallorca Country Club, where participants will enjoy a tennis or padel clinic followed by lunch at the club. Guests will then be transferred to the tournament venue in Magaluf, where they can take in the WTA 125 action from reserved VIP seating while enjoying refreshments throughout the day.
Combining tennis, fine dining and a relaxed atmosphere, the programme offers a memorable way to experience international women's tennis in Mallorca.
A growing fixture on the international Women's Tennis Calendar
The 2026 edition will feature $115,000 in prize money, a 32-player main draw and competitors representing more than twenty nations, further establishing Mallorca as an important stop on the international women's clay-court circuit.
The organisers will announce the remaining wildcards for both the main draw and qualifying competition in the coming weeks, along with a range of side events that will complement a week of top-level tennis in Calvià.
The tournament is co-financed by the Sustainable Tourism Tax Fund of the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Mallorca Responsible Tourism Foundation, with the support of the Municipality of Calvià.
