Gabriela Sabatini named tournament ambassador

Tennis legend Gabriela Sabatini has been named ambassador of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships presented by ecotrans Group, bringing both prestige and inspiration to the island’s new WTA 125 tournament. From October 4–12, Santa Ponça will welcome 32 international players, celebrities, and former tennis icons for a week of sport and entertainment at the Mallorca Country Club.

The tournament’s ambassador is one of the most iconic figures in the history of women’s tennis: Sabatini captured the 1990 US Open, won the Silver Medal at the 1988 Olympic Games, and reached three Grand Slam finals. A former world No. 3, she is remembered for her elegance on court, her rivalry with legends like Steffi Graf, and her enduring impact as a role model across generations.

As part of her role in Mallorca, Sabatini will support the players, hand over the trophy to the winner of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Mallorca Women’s Championships presented by ecotrans Group, and take part in the celebrity padel tournament staged alongside the event.

“I am very happy to be the ambassador of the Mallorca Women’s Championships,” said Gabriela Sabatini. “WTA 125 tournaments are a great opportunity for young and upcoming players to build their future, and I am excited to see so much talent competing here in Mallorca. This island has a special charm, and it is wonderful to see women’s tennis return in such a beautiful setting.”

“This first edition will feature a 32-player main draw with participants from all over the world, including some of the best players from Germany and the UK,” said Edwin Weindorfer, CEO of the organising e|motion group. “We also expect a number of celebrities and former tennis icons to attend the tournament. Having Gabriela Sabatini as ambassador elevates this event even further, underlining its importance for the development of women’s tennis.”

Free entrance during the opening weekend

To make the tournament accessible to families, local fans, and international visitors, the early rounds will also be staged at the Polideportivo Magaluf. From Thursday onwards, all matches will take place at the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponça, where the tournament will reach its decisive stages.

During the opening weekend (4–5 October), admission will be free, offering everyone the chance to enjoy top-level women’s tennis. From Monday onwards, general tickets will range from €15 to €40 for the final rounds, while VIP tickets will be priced between €120 and €130 per day.

With its autumn slot on the calendar, the event promises world-class tennis in one of the most scenic settings in Europe.
